In 1984 Renault revolutionised the market for "family" vehicles with the arrival of its MPV designed by Matra, the Espace. The concept of the MPV, which comes from the United States, very quickly seduces Europeans and the Espace becomes the market benchmark despite selling only 9 units in its first month of sale!
