OPC means “Opel Performance Center”. This Opel subdivision was established in 1997. Its aim is to develop sporty versions of the brand's hot hatch models. The OPC branch is headed by former DTM driver Volker Strycek. In the early 2000s, the company began work on the third generation (H) Astra. In the UK, it is marketed as the Vauxhall Astra VXR. This sports car develops 240hp. With all its power focused on the front axle, it's a hard car to tame. Its handling is reminiscent of a rally car... or a DTM. Which explains why this model is so popular with fans of the German brand.
