At the end of his official rally driving career, Guy Fréquelin (nicknamed Le Grizzly) was hired by Opel. In 1984, he began his second season with the German manufacturer. After finishing runner-up in the European championship and winning the French championship in 1983, he naturally aimed for equally good results with the Opel Manta Gr.B! At the Tour de Corse, Fréquelin helped the Opel Euro Team finish in the top 10 of a legendary event. Among the support vehicles was an original Chevrolet G20! The quintessential American utility vehicle found its way into European rallies because Opel has been part of General Motors since 1929. It was a touch of originality that did not go unnoticed.
