Renault Megane Maxi San Remo 1998

In 1998, Englishman Martin Rowe won the national rally championship in only his second season at the wheel of the iconic Renault Maxi. In addition, his team also claimed the title. To celebrate this success, Renault Dealer Rallying UK entered him in the Sanremo Rally alongside his Finnish teammate Tapio Laukkanen. With their yellow and blue Mégane, the two drivers certainly stood out. Unfortunately, Rowe was forced to retire in SS12, while Laukkanen managed to finish 23rd overall and 5th in their category. Regardless of the results, the Mégane Maxi had already secured its place in the legend of the Kit Cars, those iconic two-wheel-drive rally cars of the late 1990s.
