The Opel Manta was marketed in 1970. The first generation (Manta A) was replaced in 1975 by the second (Manta B). In 1982 Opel was at the top of the World Rally Championship with a driver's title won by Walter Röhrl at the Ascona 400. For the arrival of the new Group B Opel wanted to develop a new car. The Manta B was used as its base. In order to be able to homologate the car in rally Opel launched an Opel 400 “Homologation” commercialised vehicle. Thus, 245 copies of this car were produced. This Manta 400 has 275hp thanks to its Cosworth 16S engine!
