In the early 1990s, Peugeot decided to develop a replacement for its highly popular 405. It was a daunting task, given how much the sedan was loved. The Peugeot 406 was unveiled at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show before going on sale a few months later. The 406 was an instant hit. And its popularity skyrocketed in 1998 with the release of the first Taxi movie, in which it starred. The 406 was available in numerous versions, including one equipped with a V6 engine. It produced 194 horsepower and reached a top speed of 232 km/h.
